Why Holistic?

One of the greatest benefits of the holistic approach to veterinary medicine is that your pet will receive a unique, individualized treatment and care plan that’s tailored to his or her particular health needs.

In traditional Western veterinary care, the focus is often placed solely on the pet’s symptoms or illnesses, with the practitioner following the commonly accepted treatment plan for addressing those issues. Traditional treatment methods may include the use of prescription medications and invasive diagnostic and surgical procedures, both of which have their drawbacks. Many prescription medications have harmful side effects and may only treat your pet’s symptoms, rather than addressing and healing the underlying cause of those symptoms. Diagnostic and surgical procedures can be invasive and stressful for your pet, not to mention expensive.

At Coastal Holistic, our licensed DVMs (Doctors of Veterinary Medicine) combine the most modern, non-invasive veterinary techniques with a balanced, personalized, whole-body treatment plan. This treatment plan may include acupuncture, chiropractic therapy, natural herbs, nutritional counseling, or other therapies, and in general the focus will be on healing and preventing illness, enhancing your pet’s overall health, and improving his or her quality of life.

If your pet requires diagnostic or surgical procedures, our skilled practitioners have many tools in their toolboxes that allow them to perform these procedures in a gentle, non-invasive way, thus minimizing stress on your pet as well as improving the speed of recovery.

Have you ever seen pets shake, cry, or otherwise behave strangely when visiting a regularveterinarians’s office? In our experience, our canine patients typically greet us with tails wagging and our feline patients come in purring. In addition, our patients tend to find treatments soothing and relaxing; for example, patients receiving acupuncture treatments sometimes fall asleep during treatment. It’s no wonder our patients (and their owners) look forward to their appointments with us!
